Maine School of Science and Mathematics has earned 1st place in the Maine State Math League Championships! Our hard work paid off with top honors in our region and Division A. The success didn't stop there, as we also celebrated several individual awards.
Vanda Madore, one of our Math Team coaches, shared, "The important part was that we weren't first in our division (Division A) until the end when they worked together in the two team rounds and scored enough points to pull ahead. We won the highest honors that we could which were 1st place in regional, 1st place in Division A, and 1st place at State. You can't do better than that. And then there are many very good individual awards that students got because of their individual scores.

Just as a coach, I find that winning as a team is wonderful.

One reason why we score so well in the team component is that we are a residential public high school. This favors us in many ways such as enhanced team cohesion, extended collaboration time, a diverse student body, and a culture of achievement.
